Chalkboard

So, if you don't know about Little Baby Garvin's Chalkboard Tutorial here it is!
And this is where I came up with the idea about creating a chalkboard, well actually I was obsessed with creating one. I tried to make a chalkboard with crappy cardboard and a flimsy frame, it worked for a few tries. Then I found a frame from the Salvation army. Originally priced at $30, but marked down 50% off then its Military Discount month so I got an extra 25% off and got the frame for a total of $10!! What I originally had planned was to try to paint the glass.

Failure of the day #1: As I was carefully taking out the glass from the frame, it just shattered and broke into pieces in my hands!!

So, my friends Juliet was coming over to helped and said we could go to Lowe's to get plywood and paint that instead. The guy cut it for me and we brought it home to paint it. We sanded the wood and painted a few coats, I sanded the frame and spray painted it. After putting on three coats of paint I was ready to put it into the frame. As I was putting it into the frame I realized something.

Failure of the day #2: IT DIDN'T FIT BY LIKE 1/2 AND INCH!

I was so angry because this has been a really shitty week and I have heard nothing but bad news!! I took it back to Lowe's and they shaved it down for it to fit! YAY! Next I waited for a little rubbed a piece of white chalk on it then wiped it away! WORKS AMAZING!!

THE RESULTS!

WHAT YOU NEED:
Frame with a heavy duty backing or plywood
Sandpaper
Chalkboard Paint (I used can, goes on thicker)
Spray Paint (if painting frame)
Tarp

WHAT TO DO:
Sand Plywood, wipe with rubbing alcohol to clean off shavings
Paint coat 1, wait 30 minutes. repeat two more times.
LET SETTLE FOR TWO HOURS OR OVERNIGHT
Rub a side of white chalk on board then clean up.

Hope you try it!!
